Cody Mattern won the 2007 Men's Epee national championship in a thrilling bout with Seth Kelsey. In this interview, Serge Timacheff talks to Cody about a wide range of topics including the team epee results, the international schedule, and about the national championship bout.

 

Cody, who fences for the US Army World Class Athlete Program and the Northwest Fencing Center, goes into detail on his bout strategy and tactics - the hows and whys of what he did to pull out the victory against Seth Kelsey.

This interview provides a great opportunity to get into the head of a champion and learn from how Cody approaches an important bout.
