Brandeis swept its way through the first team match of the season at Boston University. The men's squad won all four of its matches, while the women's team went 5-0 on the day. All of their wins had a margin of victory of greater than nine points.

The men's team soundly defeated the University of New Hampshire 23-4, trounced host school Boston University 25-2 and defeated the University of Massachusetts and Tufts University 20-7 in each match.

Head coach Bill Shipman noted: "It was an easy day, but it was good to get everybody some competition against other teams as well as ourselves in practice," he said. "We'll still be expecting them to fence better [in the future]."

The women's squad also went an undefeated 5-0 for the day with the margin of victory for each of their matches 9 bouts or greater.
