INDIANAPOLIS---The NCAA Men's and Women's Fencing Committee has announced the field of 144 competitors that will participate in the 2010 National Collegiate Men's and Women's Fencing Championships. Harvard University will host the championships at the Gordon Track Center, March 25-28, in Boston, Massachusetts.
Fencers will compete in a round-robin format of five-touch bouts. After the round-robin, the top-four fencers fence semifinal 15-touch bouts, with the winners fencing to determine first and second places, and the losers being awarded a tie for third place. Absolute ties for the seeding will be broken as follows: for positions one through three, by a coin toss; for position four, by a fence-off.
The Golden Gate Fencing Center took it upon themselves to support the community at large in light of the tragic events in Haiti. At the NAC in San Jose, the Golden Gate Fencing Center’s coaching staff challenged their athletes to a “Point-a-thon.” For every touch that their fencers scored, the coaches would donate one dollar to Haitian Earthquake relief efforts. The fencers were encouraged to ask friends and family to join in and pledge any amount per touch.

Following the receipt of lab results from the FIE Visor foil mask which was pierced at the 2009 European Junior Championships in Odense (November 2009), the FIE issued an urgent letter stating:
Therefore, the Executive Committee has decided to suspend and
forbid, until further notice, the use of the transparent visor mask
