Poster: Zilverzmurfen  (see this users gallery)

The golden deer figure head above the Bryggen Handel.

I love this picture. It was a clear, sunny evening (7 PM) and the late sunlight turned the houses intensely red.

Everything looks so... clean and new, despite the fact it's probably been there for a long time... that's so much nicer than a huge mega-mall and big box stores...

It's not exactly new, but very well kept and maintained. :o)

The city Bergen itself was founded in 1070. The Bryggen quarters are remains of an ancient wharf on the east side of Bergen’s central harbour 'Vågen' ('The Wave'). It was rebuilt after a devastating fire in 1702 that reduced the city to ashes.

The Bryggen (which means 'The Quay' or 'The Wharf' in norwegian) site is on the UNESCO World Heritage list since 1979.

Sadly, on the other side of the wall hangs a large, golden deer butt in some poor guy's hotel room.

"Honey...open the windows please..."
