Looks like foulbeer. Try a good brand, A&W is good, or Mug, Barq's, IBC. They have different flavours but they're all good. Some are sweeter, some are less sweet, none taste like any gum I've ever tasted.

Root beer is good stuff... although I agree with G?F? - I've never had any that tasted like gum.
I wonder if you somehow ended up with a bad cream soda or something.

Mmm. IBC. You should get your hands on some Independent Brewing Company root beer. Float a little bit of ice cream in it, and stir it up till it's nice and milk-shakey!
