A bird, huh? Unless you told I would have guessed that was a lizard or a mini-alligator or something.

Dito on the colours. Smile

Grouse are the size of a small chicken. The breast meat you get is about the size of two of your fists (or one large man's fist). They are plentiful throughout Canada (and probably the US as well).
Here's a link: http://images.google.ca/imgres?imgurl=http://www.worldbook.com/features/birds/assets/grouse.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.worldbook.com/features/birds/html/types_fowl_grouse.html&h=255&w=250&sz=14&hl=en&start=1&tbnid=YU9xFYtApV09RM:&tbnh=111&tbnw=109&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dgrouse%26ndsp%3D20%26svnum%3D10%26hl%3Den%26lr%3D%26sa%3DN

You can see one of the wingtips on the bottom right side of the bird. He's about to drop it at this point, so he doesn't have a really good hold.

He's reached his full adult size several months ago, right now he's a teenager. He will get a thicker as he matures. He still has to develop mentally (this will be another 6-12 months). He looks like a puppy when you see him in action.... with that goofy loppy bounce-walk. So while he no longer looks like a puppy, he still has to be treated as such.... meaning you have to still watch him, as he's likely to do stupid/destructive things.
