Certainly the fencer on the right doesn't appear to believe he landed the initial (judging from his follow-up stroke as the left fencer tries to get up out of the water).


What's with the side judge raising his hand and then pulling it back down again immediately?

Well the side judge was me, and my first thought was that he must have hit on the first one, but then I realized I was incorrect. If you think judging dry fencing is a pain in the butt (and I suppose you oiuyt don't think it's difficult), you should try judging it in the ocean...
