Array protect the back of your head Originally posted by dekko You're right, there's no flicking in epee!!! It ain't necessarily so.
I've seem an epeeist flick, missed the shoulder and got his opp't in the head and drew blood.
Anyone want to see my converted LP X-Change sabre mask?
As I write this, I know LP is planning to make their own version of a hockey goalie mask's back-plate for use in fencing mask. Watch for it if you want to save your head, literally.

Originally posted by Morion I thought they were going to eliminate the flick by increasing the amount of time the tip has to be depressed, so the quick snap of a flick wouldn't register. Yes, that is the idea. But some people evidently feel that they will be able to develop there telekinetic powers prevent the recoil of the blade and hold the tip on the target area for an extended time duration.
The fact is that some people may still be able to ocasionally score with a flick attack, but the new rules will make it such a low percentage of success that you would be foolish to make it a major part of your repetoire. -

Array This was before your time, but I think it was EDEW or Dave Neveel who had fenced with a box on a 15ms setting and found that it only eliminated the most extreme, edge-of-the-tip flicks.
No telekinesis needed.
I think it got lost in one of the database crashes. Tried searching and couldn't find it.

Array The other Eric, Eric Schlaepfer (with help of his brother, I guess, Ian Schlaepfer). Neevel also did the test, I think.
DanInMI obviously have little clue as to the amount of time the hit can land. Some flicks are pretty hard and sticks for quite a while.
The main thing is, you don't want it to be depressed too long, or obvious hits won't get registered. -

Array Are we talking about the infamous PFL boxes that has a 15 ms delay? -
