| If I'm gonna flick, I may as well learn to finish my action and land it!

| another bad 'habit' Getting old. It seems that every year, generally in spring, something else on my body falls apart. My joints must have a lottery system going to determine if it will be an ankle, a knee, a shoulder, a foot, or a weapon hand that is going to cause too much pain to practice enough to eliminate (reduce, really) the many bad habits in my fencing. Short lunge, throwing point, big circular sixte, forgetting to retreat, etc, etc. (Sigh.) |

| 1. pulling my arm back when i disengage
2. not extending 100%
3. getting caught up in relying on one move to win a bout. people pick up on patterns. duh.
4. not being agressive enough (sometimes)
5. getting caught up when people swirl their blade enough
6. not strong enough beats

| Epee:
1. leaving the underside of my forearm exposed.
2. not committing to an attack.
3. falling asleep from time to time.
4. not retreating enough to get out of distance/getting stuck.
Foil:
1. reaching when lunging thus hurting my lower back.
2. overusing parry 4, 8, 6.
3. not extending arm enough.
4. not having a high enough arm action on the flicks.
5. not parrying opponents flick riposte to upper back.
6. not committing to beat attacks well enough.
7. parries being too big sometimes.
8. not being creative enough..i'm doing the same stuff over and over again. |

| not extending Too many to list... but the worst is one that is shared by all too many fencers, even quite good ones: not extending the arm all the way and/or soon enough when attacking. Distance, right of way, point control, everything is trashed. And it looks chicken. |

I'm too predictable. I can't bl***y parry well, and my footwork stinks. |

| I sometime change my target in mid-attack, which makes me look like a spaz since I don't hit anything! I'm a girl with comittment issues I guess...

| My right foot starts moving forward before my arm, telling anyone who looks for it that I'm on my way in. I've only been doing it for 8 or 9 years tho, so it's too soon to tell if it's a habit...
