| Sad It's coming up on that time of year again, when all the happy couples go with pink and red and everything and swap candies and flowers, celebrating St. Valentine's Day.
While I am quite happily involved with another, I still prefer to show my support for those less fortunate than myself, by observing Singles Awareness Day (SAD) on that day. If I didn't have to be in uniform, I would go with all black, like last year.
Who will help me show the poor single people out there that they don't have to be the only SAD ones? |

| Start with a lot of black, then see if you can get your girlfriend in on it. Right now I'm just working on spreading the idea; if anybody has any better ideas, I'm all for it.
For my own personal contribution, I'm taking a random single girl to a Valentine's Day Ball here. My girlfriend is hundreds of miles away, so I can't take her, and they needed cadets to volunteer to escort some girls to this ball. So, I am helping a single person here. |

| Maybe we single fencers should go practice by ourselves... maybe buy ourselves some roses and put a tag on them from someone we just made up? *wry smile* We could always go to a restarant all dressed up and sit there for a while, telling the waiter "he should be here soon," then slink away home...
Truth told, and no disrespect meant by what I said... I guess all of us single people just keep on being single. On the bright side, there are no roses to forget until the water turns into a living organism and stalks the house at night. There is no chocolate that only makes you appreciate that your knickers are stretch, and that you HAD extra space in your jacket. There is no jewlery to misplace.
Instead you check your mailbox when you get home late from practice, and find valentines from your much younger siblings, with shaky little kid hand writing that says, "we love you" and you realize thats the best Valentines day present there is. |

| black isn't very happy. . . It seems like we'd be depressing the singles further. . . We should organize big dances all over the land where singles can go and mingle and return home no longer single! But maybe some guys are just fine with being single, they get to sit around, watch TV. . .

| I had a friend who used to send roses to random single people he knew. I had another who used to go put chocolate on people's office desks. It was fun to help him do it. |

| My depressed philosophy/history teacher actually gives bonus quiz points for going all black on v-day, so guess what I'll be wearing. Well, here's to being single *shot*. And again *shot*, and again *shot* and... |

-Elijah | We're supporting those bitterly lonely single people who aren't by choice. I think singles and couples alike can help with that on SAD. |

~Jes | Oh, you meant "unattached", not single ( as in "unmarried" ). I take it your "track record" doesn't refer to failed marriages? Or are you in Utah? |
