Array Where could I buy...? Hey people. I'm looking into buying the Adidas Asymmetrics (I am currently just using some cross trainers from Adidas). I don't want to buy them off of the internet though, because I don't know how they'll fit for sizing. I live in southern BC, Canada. Does anybody know of any stores that I can go to that actually carry them? A place in Bellingham would be ok too...I just don't want to take a 6 hour road trip to go get some shoes. Thanks everybody. watermelon watermelon watermelon -

Array Shy of finding a fencing shop, fencing shoes are NOT found (in my experiences) at shoe stores. I'm afraid you're sore out of luck there unless you're willing to buy internet. -

Array Or go to a major event where there is a vendor. Even then they might not have your size on hand. -

Array I got mine from Blue-gauntlet which has pretty good pricing on them. As far as sizing goes, they seem to run the same size as most runnign shoes...at least they did for me.

Array BTW, they are sooooo worth it!!! I just got my first pair and they are by far the best shoe you can get for fencing!

Array Ok, so my only options are pretty much to buy them from the internet, or at a competition? Man. They should make these things more readily available.
Thanks guys! -

Array Yeah, I know what you mean. A friend of mine owns a running shop, and he actually called Adidas directly, and they NEVER HEARD OF THEM!! I have a local fencing shop here in N.Y.C., (Blade), but what a mark up in price!! I found bought mine from American Fencer's supply ( www.amfence.com ) Decent price too!! RAF.

Array I've been told that asyms are something you really want to try before buying, as they are not good for everyone, and kinda pricy. I have the lovely $30 bargan basement ones from BG, and they work just fine. Well, better than x-trainers in any case. Pedicabo ego vos et irrumabo,

Array Working as a retail employee at an athletic shoe store, I can safely say that no one has ever heard of the Adidas Asym Fencing shoes. I even asked the owner (aka, the Boss) to put an order in for a pair, because we order directly from Adidas. I figured it would be no problem, and I'd get them at wholesale price.
Well they never came, and I'm pretty sure the Boss told me that the the company said that they don't sell those shoes wholesale to retail companies that aren't "fencing-affiliated".
Pretty sure he meant that they never heard of the things.
Figured the Blue-Gauntlet ones with a nice sole are just as good. Court Volleyball shoes or Indoor Soccer shoes are pretty decent as well. -

Array Maybe if you spoke French you probably could but apparently fencing isn't an American sport according to Addidas. If you select North America (it may have been US but I think it was NA) then you get like basketball soccer tennis and a few other sports. I have always liked Addidas gear for whatever sport I'm participating in at the time (they make a sweet Taekwondo uniform) but good luck getting it if your sport is un-American by their standards.
