Yes, it's true. Valentine's Day is coming. We can't help you find that special
someone, but why be lonely and miserable and all by yourself on Valentine's
Day, when you can be lonely, miserable and all by yourself with a whole bunch
of folks just like you, the week before, at a swell fencing tournament?
On Sunday, February 8, the Baltimore Fencing Center in Timonium, Maryland, will
host its second annual Choco Therapy Open. Check-in for Mixed A Foil closes at
10 a.m., and check-in for Mixed A Epee closes at 2 p.m.
As always, we will be awarding medals to the top eight fencers in each event,
plus a special medal to the top E or U fencer in each weapon. And -- as always
-- there IS a free lunch at the Baltimore Fencing Center. At least there is, if
you like pizza, which is offered at no charge to all competitors. As a general
rule of thumb, it appears that the worse you fence, the more pizza you get. Hey
-- it's your decision!
But wait -- what about Valentine's Day? Isn't there supposed to be some
additional loot in honor of this sacred occasion? Oh, yes. Thanks for
reminding us.
The top male and female finisher in each event will also receive a box of
gourment chocolate truffles, from Kirchmaier's Chocolatier. The second-place
male or female will each receive a box of delicious chocolate-covered hazel
nuts, as well.
