    Heel problems

Hi guys.Just recently,my heel(right) have started to hurt alot when I land on it.It was because I hit it hard once and now,it hurts alot whenever I land on it.My shoes don't have much cushion at the heel area.Could that be the cause of the problem? If so,would a pair of fencing shoes help much? Thanks.

Buy a $3.00 heel cup. You can lunge on a bruised heel with it and not feel a thing.

I had a bruised heel (initially caused by intensive footwork on a very hard floor, but not something that tends to get better easily if you continue to fence on it...) a couple of years ago.

Sorbothane insoles were recommended to me, I bought some and have worn them inside my fencing shoes ever since. My husband also wears them since he bruised his heel.

Sorbothane is an ultra-thin, light material with VERY good shock absorbtion properties. You can get it in insoles, heel cups etc. http://www.sorbothane.com/ gives more details about the material and there is a link (at the bottom) which goes to a distributor of sorbothane insoles too. But you could do a search for different manufacturers...

I buy mine in the UK, but I am sure that they are available everywhere.
