LOL!! I thought exactly the same thing! Mmm, Resolve, it is my friend...Don't know about masks but Vanish carpet spray worked very well on my, erm, carpet aftera red wine incident (needed Resolve as well then too) so it's good stuff - could work!

uhh...i found that filling a big bucket with hot water and a bit of ur favorite laundry detergent and slosh ur mask around in it works rather well. if u have any stains, prewash sprays can be applied such as "shout". using these sprays, u usually wanna wait bout 15 min before washin it so that the spray has time to work.
after u slosh ur mask around, squeeze the bib a lil n adgitate a lil. make sure to wring out any excess water from ur bib, before drying it. for drying u could wipe the mesh stuff n put it in front of a heater, it shud b dry the next day.
hope this was of some help

Burning the bib also works pretty well if you are looking to destroy it, cheerio!

well considering those are supposed to be riches (right?). Like, metals. That means it STILL wouldn't smell good.

Riches, yes, at least long ago; metals, no. They are aromatic gum resins used as perfumes and ( surprise ) incense....

    Hi!

Just tried an industrial sand-blower (donīt know the proper English name) on an old mask with rust stains. ZAP! Mask metal looks like new. The rust was superficial.

    Have a nice time!

To clean the bib, I use oxy-clean, water, and an old and otherwise useless toothbrush. Oxylean is amazing at removing stains... just brush the bib as if you were brushing your teeth (may need a little more elbow grease on the tough spots) and then rinse in the sink... to clean the actual mask... I just dip it in a sinkful of water and a quarter cup of ammonia for a minute or two... To dry it, just put if over a heating vent overnight.

    Short answer: No Idea.

Long answer: I have fenced for well over a decade in Sweden, and have yet to see a punch tester. This goes for the Sw. Nationals also. USA is quite special in its "sue for everything" way of doing things. Sweden, and most other countries that I have heard of in this respect, have much less suing, lower winning percentage for the claimant, and much lower amounts awarded to a sucessful claimant.

This mask has several problems, and I am using it to try out fixing methods. Once it has been used for that, it goes to the thrash bin.

    Have a nice time!

    I double that, Peter.

In my +10 years of fencing I've never seen a "punch tester" either. Not even in competitions abroad.

Dishwasher wash once every 1-3 months with cascade, and final touches with Resolve (carpet cleaner) for spills (or drooling) in the bib.
    Check the mesh routinely.

Frankly, tournament organizers might be concerned with lawsuits but I as a fencers would be more concerned with knowing my mask wasn't going to fail and get me killed. If they didn't punch test masks in the States I'd get one myself and do it...

Ack, I can feel my eyes burning now. I tend to avoid chemical around my mucus membranes. Do you rinse it out?
