    Calgary people

Hey guys, since Edmonton doesn't have any stores that sell fencing equipment, I was thinking about coming down to get some. How many of these stores do you guys have? And is it worth getting equipment down there, or would it be better to just order it from some place in the states?

I don't know about fencing shops in Calgary.

However, I think that most people here in the States end up mail ordering their equipment or buying batches of it from the vendors at the big competitions.

I'm pretty fortunate in that I have four vendors' stores within a 40 minute drive from me (Santelli, BG, FenceSmart and PC).

That said, I still frequently use other vendors through mail order (AmFence, PBT, Triplette).

Until fencing gets so popular that every shopping mall has a fencing shop, getting gear is going to take a bit of work.

If you don't mind the additional hassle and wait you can also order directly from many of the European suppliers (Uhlmann, Leon Paul, Prieur). The prices are usually better (depending on the current exchange rate - right now the Euro is high), but shipping takes longer and there can be additional problems (customer support may not always be available, if only because of the time difference).

Many people prefer to go in together and place large orders to minimize the shipping cost.

    Check out http://www.fencingcanada.ca

It's a store based right out of Calgary. They have pretty good equipment there (I ordered all of mine through them). You can order right from the internet, or you can go down to the location.
