| Instant noodles Hello, just wondering if the other part of the world eats instant noodles (those in a packet ready to boil, or in a cup) My impression of the western world is that the people there don't eat instant noodels much and can you find them in supermarkets? Instant noodles are a big thing here in Singapore and most parts of Asia like Hong Kong and Japan. How much are instant noodles selling for in supermarkets in Europe or the US? It's pretty cheap here, a packet of 5 for just USD1.40 or a cup of it for USD 0.75. |

| Ah yes..brings back good memories. Got introduced to them as a young soldier serving in Korea. Nothing like Noodles with a slice of cheese in them and O.B. (oriental beer) in between clubing in Itaewon. Yes they are every where in America. And cheep also, sometimes leass than a Quarter a packet.

| fencerjim, ever been to the Blue Kettle. I spent time at PMJSA, Red Cloud, Hovie, Casey. Bagogy and Ramen W/ cheese with a moon pie and a coke was the going rate for trades in the field when I was there. You can buy a case of 15 for about 3.00US in HEB in San Antonio.

| As a college student I can attest to the large volume of Ramen noodles devoured daily by the financially challenged academics of America.

| You can buy them in packets of 5-8 for a dollar in supermarkets depending on where you go. I prefer them with stuff mixed in, like egg slices, vegetables, hot sauce, etc. On a side note, while looking up ramen stuff on the web for recipes I saw there was a museum dedicated to them in Japan. |

| sgfoilist,
Yes, instant ramen are also available here in N America. In fact they're pretty mainstream here exp. in the cities where there is a large immigrant community. The same with bok-choi, sue-choi...
Here in Canada a box of the original Jpn ramen costs about CAD 10 -I never counted how many in a box. The more exotic ones like the spicey Korean 'Sin' noodles are around CAD 13-14.
People, don't eat too much of the instant noodles: The noodles are deepfried first then coated with oil to make them stable. Lots of MSG in the little packets of 'flaour' thus making a pop a good complement... The guy who discovered the formula is a multi-billionaire...
If you have to eat it always cook some veggies with it, and a bit of meat to make it less evil.
Take care,
PK |

| Re: Instant noodles Nihao!
Here is Sweden they can be found in every supermarket, and especially students eat them a lot. The price is 3 packets for 10 Sw. Kr (1 Sw. kr = 1 PRC Yuan).
Wode Taitai makes a lot of noodle food, but she always makes from ordinary noodle packages, and adds spices, wegetables and stuff herself. About a hourīs drive there is a large city where one can find several Chinese/Vietmamese food shops, and she can stock up on fish noodles, pak choi, and other hard-to-get stuff there.
Have a nice time!

How much is a McDonald's Big Mac in Sw. Kr.? That everyone understands. Quote: Originally posted by PeterGustafsson Wode Taitai ... pak choi, ... | Taitai = Mrs. in Chinese.
The correct spelling should be "Bak choi".
It's in Cantonese. In HK, they can't distinguish 'P' from 'B', 'G' from 'K' as a result of the latter, we ended up with 'kung-fu' rather than the more correct "gung-fu". don't say the 2nd 'g'. It's like the 2nd 'B' in "bomb"; or the "B" in 'plumber'.
