| Choosing a Foil I'm just wondering...I have a pretty heavy practice french foil. And Im just wondering if i should get a light or heavy electric foil. In terms of accuracy and speed. |

| I wouldn't really worry about it too much. You'll certainly be faster with a lighter foil but not by much. Actually I use electric weapons even when I practice because the feel is a little different in them. But, I really don't think it makes a big difference what kind of foil you use, it's all in technique.

| It doesn't matter much if you get a heavy, or light blade, it just takes a little while to get used to. Then you shouldn't have a problem.

| I find it useful to have a practice foil that is basically the same weight and handle type as my competition foils. Helps me realize in practice any mistakes, bad habits, etc. that I would ordinarily make in a bout. |

| Help!! I'm a student, and I need a foil - non electric. Anyone know where I can get them from? Preferably quite cheap? And that'll ship over to the UK? |

| well if you are in the UK then buy one in the UK. You can find a list of supliers here http://www.britishfencing.com/equipt_suppliers.html
all of them (except favero and viktoria who sell scoring aperatus and shoes respectivly) will be quite happy to sell you a steam (it means none electric) foil. |

| Dave,
A "steam foil"? I've never heard that term used before. Want to fill me in on the origin of the phrase?

| foil xd,
yeah that's a good foil. If you see the words "Uhlmann" and "FIE" or "marraging" you're golden.

| I don't recommend that beginners waste their time and money on maraging blades. They break way to easily while they are learning distance, buy the $30.00 practice foil to begin. (Unless your club requires maraging blades.)
