    Italian Grips

I'm wondering about the Italian grip, if any one knows about it. I am curently a French grip user (don't much care for the pistol) and the Italian grip has cought my fansy of late. my querie is if any one has some first hand expirance with this type of grip they'd care to share.

and as a side thought, what is it's legality as far as oficail bouts go?

Welcome to the board, Evil W.

Your question is a frequently asked from, and you can find answers by searching on "Italian grip" or "Italian" on the board, both in this section and the Armory.

A number of us have fenced with Italian grip (I'm assuming you're referring to foil), it's not popular anymore for modern or sport fencing, some people still like it anyway, and it's completely legal for competition.

    regards, Jeff

Actually, you can get true ricasso epee blades from the Fencing Post. I believe they're made by Uhlmann, but I'm not sure on that.
If this post did not contain any sarcasm, it very well should have.

There we go. The manufacturer isn't mentioned there, but having seen some of these myself (but foolishly not checking the markings on them, ohno!), I know they're true ricasso. However, seeing as Uhlmann currently makes the only true ricasso foil blades that I know of, I figure that it isn't too much of a stretch there.

Also, Uhlmann most certainly does make epee blades.
