Array I've been using an oversized duffel bag for years. I think it cost about $20, from a sporting-goods catalog. -

Array You might want to try Triplette Competition Arms. All of their bags are under $50, except for the hard shell. -

Array I think i might try a triplette bag -
anyone have that hard case from triplette? From the picture it looks pretty slick. -
The Triplette hard case is an off-the-shelf golf club case with some extra foam padding and a couple of zipper pouches affixed to the interior. You'd be able to find one at a sporting goods store for a lower price, and not have to pay the shipping.
One thing to keep in mind about the hard golf cases is that they are quite bulky-- to the point that they will not readily fit in the trunk of many cars (and even smaller SUVs or wagons). Unless you do a lot of air travel with your gear you'll probably find it more trouble than it's worth. Even people who do use them will typically have a soft-side bag for when they're not flying.

That's what I figured. Thanks for the reply. I was looking at soft golf bags online. I was contemplating getting one of those if they don't have the dividers for the clubs. Have to take some measurements to see how many foils would fit -
I found a large duffel bag at the local army surplus store for $25 Only concern was it had no stiffening in it. so, I used a couple of the closed cell foam play floor tiles cut down to size as a stiffener. (i suppose even a piece of pressboard would work. ) In addition i keep each weapon in a pvc pipe "sheath" so the bag's flexibility has not been a issue. -

Array Soft side golf bags work well, the length is just right for weapons. I bought one for $15 and it is so roomy it holds all gear, mask, etc. in one compartment only. It is a strong bag but more than one compartment might have been nice to have. -

Array I love the golf travel bags. YOu can get decent ones on Ebay for 35-50 dollars. I currently am using a Somsonite. It ran a little under a hundred, and has plenty of grab handles, a shoulder starp, and heavy wheels. It has two large zip off pockets for tools and shoes, contains a garmet bag for carring a change of clothes, and holds (and yes I do lug this around to tourneys with me as club loaners) two masks, 4-6 epees, 6-8 foils, and 8-10 body cords as well as jacket, towl, gloves, etc. A couple of inside pockets would be nice, but it holds more than the Uhlmann/allstar/PBT bags at half the price.
You can find them in the gold section of Dicks, Sports Authority, etc. Just another lost soul saved by the (hit) First Church of EPEE!

Array Bag Theory I just upgraded my worn out bad with the Triplette BG-928 for $34.95. It has plenty of room for 3, foils, 1 epee and a practise saber along with my mask in the inside compartment. Then it has 3 outside pockets, one the perfect size for my glove, another for my repair equipment and another on the bottom for shoes etc. if you don't have size 13's like me. Then it has two more inside pockets that I haven't found a use for yet.
For $35 why compromise?

Array That triplette bag oyu just bought...does it have a hard bottom or sides at all? Sounds like it was a good deal.... "Wickedness is a myth, invented by good people, to account for the curious attractiveness of others." -Oscar Wilde -

Array The top of the bag is reinforced, the bottom actually has a zipped compartment that you can stuff your jacket in. "I'm extraordinarily patient provided I get my own way in the end" - Margaret Thatcher -

Array this may be repetative...
but i would go with one of the hard shell golf cases. they are nice b/c you can fit so much stuff in them/they roll/ are hard shelled, etc. i bought one at a sporting store for under 50 bucks, and just put some foam in myself. it's true, however, that they aren't terribly trunk friendly, dso you might keep that in mind...

Array The hard golf bags don't have all of the seperate pockets to stuff wet gloves, repair parts, bottled water etc. They think that all of those pockets are on the golf bag that you put inside the hard case.
Note: If you plan to complete in one weapon, then you need a bag for your mask and at least two blades and two body cords, two weapons 4 & 4 etc. Adding saber to equation means two masks! Don't waste your money on one of the beginner bags, there's not near enough room. "I'm extraordinarily patient provided I get my own way in the end" - Margaret Thatcher -

Array Our director found a dive bag at a Goodwill for five bucks. LOTS of room in the main compartment, 2 BIG exterior pockets, one made from mesh (good for them sweaty jackets ), and a goo sturdy strap and handles. Quidquid latine dictum sit altum videtur
