are you looking for fencing shoes or just any regular shoe that would be good for fencing.

and try looking at the product reviews for the fencing shoes.
Fencing will always be a "for love of the game" sport.

If fencing shoes, I'd buy Adidas D'art(Fencing Post, Blue Gauntlet) or PBT shoes(PBT,Triplette).
    Both are around $100.

I would not buy any fencing shoes that are cheaper than these. They'll last you half as long (or less), and you'll pay more than half for them.

If regular shoes, I'd go with crosstrainers.
I'd stay away from running shoes.
Running shoes aren't designed for going backwards.
Fencing seems to break them down fairly quickly.

Some people recommend volleyball or indoor soccer shoes.

I wore raquetball shoes for fencing for many years. I now wear the high-tops Blue Gauntlet carries, as does my coach, who wore out a pair of Adidas much more quickly than these....

Well, in your price range, I'd second tiger fencer's PBT recommendation from Triplette. They're Hungarian-made. Not pretty, not very-high quality, but probably as good as you're going to get for $100. Very light, and snug-fitting (which I like). Non-fencing shoes are just too heavy, IMO, though I've never tried cross-trainers.

Mine were pretty slick after about 15-18 months of regular fencing, though, and I had to reattach the rubber grips a couple of times with a hot glue gun. I've had both better and worse shoes. My experience is, with fencing shoes, you generally get what you pay for.

Go out and buy some indoor court or tennis shoes that feel good on your feet.

You can easily find shoes that have:

    A rounded heel
    Toe drag protection

Then you can decided how much support or cushion you want vs. how lightweight and low to the ground you want.

For those with an Addias shoe fetish who want something really light and mobile check out:

    Thank you all for advices
I guess I will go with Addidas when.

Before I will check new balance cross-training (actually this manufacture recomended me cross-training for fencing)

and running snickers - not for fencing at all - from my experiance.

Indoor soccer shoes are the way to go. Addidas sambas(I believe they are)
Very cheap(under 50 dollars) and they last a long time. The soles are significantly thin to allow your feet to feel the floor, but thick enough to provide padding.

Hmmm.... maybe the new veresion of the addidas last better but I had a pair of BG Vistory shoes (about $50 as I recall) that I got from a teammate when he bought some addidas. He was on his third pair of addidas before I had to replace the BGs. And I fence lots more than he did.

I go througha pair of BG's a year, it seems that some people are lucky enough to have long lasting BG shoes, but from my experience, you can only count on Victories lasting for a year. I'd go for the adidas D'artagnan's they are a good quality shoe, and on average last longer than the BG's. Get heel cups too, they are very worth the 8 bucks you'll spend on them.

Suffice it to say that TheOne's experience and mine with Victory shoes differ vastly.

Put shoes in "search". I did. I like the look of basketball shoes.
