Yeah I'd say Italian or possibly Latin. I'm not a linguist either though.

Not sure what it is, but I can tell you with certainty that it isn't Latin. Italian sounds like a fair bet, though.

It's not Italian. Could be a dialect of Italian, though. Sicilian Italian can be quite different than standard Italian. It's pretty clearly a Romance language, though. Not Spanish or French. Doesn't look like Portugese. I don't know much about Catalan or Romanian...

Okay, now I am dying to know. This isn't the main dialect of any modern language... what is it!?!? It shares some words with Brazilian Portugese, Esperanto, Spanish...

Phoenix, where did you get the lyrics from? My curiosity is piqued.

it looks kinda french, meaning indo-european roots. Maybe Portualgese or something? HOwever Tikitu does not sound Indo-European. Perhaps an African language with french or european corruption??

I would guess that it's pretty straight indo-european, and that the "tikitu" is just a space-filler in the song: extra nonsense syllables that don't have any meaning in whatever language this is in.

is it safe to assume that this is simply your "ear-transcription," not printed lyrics, and open for possible revisions as to where words begin and end?

It is definitely not properly spelled Spanish, Italian, French, Romanian, Esperanto, or anything else common. But "vendi" shows up in Portugese, "merdi" shows up in Esperanto, "tikitu" shows up in Inuit and Brazilian Portugese, and "genda" in Portugese. Also, "cuer" shows up in medieval Spanish(?) of Leon. I spent WAAAY too long looking at this. But "difardi" shows up nowhere. "Verstu" shows up in Icelandic and maybe Lituanian, while "fona" and "fota" show up in Catalan.

I second that question: How were these lyrics gotten? Are they your transcription from listening to the song? Or are they from some written source?

Well, you aren't the only one who want sto know what that language is. It is from an Anime soundtrack (Chikyû Shôjô Arjuna : Into Another World) by Yoko Kanno. It seems that the voice may have been used as an instrument, and nobody knows what the lyrics might mean. An Anime board might be able to help you more.
