| First Tournament outside of districts this year, advice? Ok let me just say I have come home from to great wins at a HS meet and a crappy loss. I beat Aj Somers and something Gellis and lost to some kid he had good bladework though... So anyone have any advice for my first tournament it's Santrillo's(sp?). I just hope to have fun and do good. Well that's a bit redundant because I only have fun when I do good, unless there's some hot fencing babes. |

| Just be relaxed! Focus on your fencing while your fencing, try not to let social adventures get in the way, wait until after the tourney! Just fence hard, and relax! Good luck!!!

| There's no social ventures there it's an all boys meet. That's why I'm going to Santelli's on saturday to "support the girls team" i.e. hit on the hot fencing babes. |

Both were great fencers, and these HS tournaments are held in their honor. Apparently, the history has not been brought down on the younger folk, apparent by your post. |

| devilsEPEE,
Read my tags - that's those asying at the bottom of the post.
I agree with TheOne and nahouw:
When you're fencing, you should clear your mind - What the samurais said in "The Last Samurai": No mind. concentrate on the job at hand. When you start winning, the hot babes MAY find you more attractive. Emphasis on MAY.
Ditto for the girls when they're fencing. You should not distract them.
Just do your job, kick ***; but if you lose, learn from the loss, don't repeat the same mistake in the future.
While you're fencing, relax and do your best, and enjoy the challenge.

| DevilsEpee My advice is to go to NJ.Com/Forums scroll down to the bottom to Winter sports and discuss the local tournaments and names of fencers with the other NJ fencers. |

| Thanks for all the things said, and sorry about spelling Cetrullo worng i'd never seen it written before and was just going by how other people saying it. Yeah so I did ok... 6-10 I wish we would have thought up a strategy and i would've gone 2nd spot and our second in third and our third in first but it didn't happen. I messed around a couple of bouts since it was a team tournament and we had lost already by the time I got on the strip and I noticed that first spot epee's suck when they're mad they really do. They make wild beats and just don't think. I think it also has to do with the testosterone too, haha.

| There are a lot of great posts in the previous thread requesting help for their first tournament.
