| Edinburgh Open to be an Epee Satellite FIE event! The Edinburgh Open is to have its Epee event upgraded to a FIE satellite event. The Sabre event has had the same status since last year. If anyone is coming over to it then PM me and let me know -
The Edinburgh open is due to be held on March 13th more details [like an entry form] to follow...
I'm sure the Edinburgh based fencers can arrange a similair social event. |

| Sorry guy's I'm pruning out the unhelpful stuff. This even will be held in Edinburgh, Scotland. If you are interested in coming to it then details are to be placed on Edinburgh Fencing Club's website.
For those making the trip from abroad some of the guy's over here may be able to help with accomodation so long as we know you are turning up in advance.
I'm sure we can also help with the after-fencing festivities...

You can find the details here.
I'll make this a sticky for the next couple of weeks. |

| Forgive my ignorance, but why would you schedule an FIE Satellite event in Men's Epee on the same weekend as the Men's Epee World Cup in Paris? |

| It's not an A grade and is part of the Coup Du Nord calendar. Those who cannot go to the Paris A will be able to attend this instead.
However I do admit that the timing could perhaps have been chosen better. Can I emphasis now that I am not the organiser of this event merely acting as a contact for those who wish to attend. |

| Epee Wold Cup GRAN PRIX in Vancouver Quote: Originally posted by float Forgive my ignorance, but why would you schedule an FIE Satellite event in Men's Epee on the same weekend as the Men's Epee World Cup in Paris? | ...Then there is the Epee Wold Cup GRAN PRIX in Vancouver, BC, CANADA on
March 19, 20 for the individual event; and
March 21 for the team event. http://fencing.ca/competitions/2004_...ernational.htm
If you are chasing FIE epee World Cup points, there'll be a lot of flying for you.

The Coupe du Nord Circuit is independent of the World Cup Circuit. Fencers who fence on the Coupe du Nord Circuit are different than the fencers who fence on the World Cup Circuit. Of course, there ARE some fencers who will do both, depending upon training schedules.
In addition, only 8 fencers from any country (plus their quota) are able to fence in the World Cup competition. The satellite event is another option for fencers ineligible by their country to compete in the World Cup event to participate in a alternate high level event to keep with the training schedule.
As a fencer, when a conflict between a World Cup event and a Satellite event does occur, the fencer will choose the competition most beneficial to them. Keep in mind that if you win a satellite event, you gain 4 ranking points, which is the same as if you finished in the top 32 of a World Cup. But then again, in the FIE rankings, for every Satellite finish that you have, it is negated by every World Cup finish that you have. |

Edinburgh - March 13-14
Mannheim - March 27-28
Helsinki - May 29-30

| i m trying to get green flag from the french federation to go there with several good fencers from my club. Usually france don t send delegations there. But it is the policy of the fedration to REFUSE to issue FIE cards for some OBSCURE reasons...they re scared non top 100# fencers could score one point or 2 at those events...
i wonder, do you have a list of countries that are really permissible in terms of sending fencers thta re not in the national teams(provided the fencers pay for all the expenses) to satelite events?
Hopefully, i ll see you guys there.

| Update! New info has just come to my attention.
The organisers have managed to attract the sponsorship of a famous whisky distiller. There will be a prize fund of a few thousand GB pounds. Additionally there is also going to be a Ceilidh at a local brewery. Ceilidh transalates as drunken Scottish party so you can be guarenteed some good 'apre-fence'. |

| refereees Hello,
Do you need to bring your own referee . We plan to be 5 fencers going there.
Nothing is mentioned about referees on the PDF.
Also, most of the B&B i checked are for single room. Do you know some with 2-3 beds in rooms.
Thanks for your answers.
See you in Scotland in a few weeks.

| No Rukovsoft, you will not need to bring your own ref - it's not a full A grade. If you've got one spare then another would always be good! With regard to BnB's... Couldn't say for sure [I've never stayed in a BnB in Edinburgh] but there are plenty! Just up from me is a whole street full of them - those ones look pretty expensive though. Have you tried Edinburgh's tourist information? I can dig out a number if you need it.
Try this site - http://www.visitscotland.com/accommo...?view=Standard
Alas all the guy's are booked up else I would find a floor for you! |

this is an annoucement by the BC Fencing Association [BCFA]
In connection with World Cup, the BCFA will hold a fencing camp and workshops in Vancouver on March 16, 17 & 18th, 2004 for our High Performance youth fencers and their coaches.
We are expecting pre-World Cup training of many national teams, including Olympic and World Champions (France, Italy, Hungary, Germany, etc.).
Besides the technical and tactical training, there will be coaching workshops regarding methodology of High Performance training and issues connected with this subject.
