    That's a brilliant point. So according to your reasoning, no epeeist knows how to fence? Is everyone from the more civilized south as smart as you?

    Well, obviously the concept of following the conventions (rules) is too much for you or you wouldn't be trying to do away with it.

    Um, ISDP...if you fence epee you needn't worry about ROW, so why would you be putting your oar in about it? It'd be sort of like me saying "Please, let's get rid of double touches in epee".

    If you fence foil or epee, then, forgive me, but Tireur's remark is, if arch, also apropos...

    anyways, back to resolutions....

    I really would like to improve my rating from my current "E" to atleast a "D", kick my bad habit of the punching motion when I fence, and win a few tournaments. I have a feeling THAT goal will be far away, though

    No, I've seen a handful in my 30 odd years of fencing who were very good fencers.
