| Ouch...
I hope she gets better, it's always depressing to see things like this happen...

| That's life.
Perhaps someone should let her see the movie "Seabiscuit." "You don't throw a life away..."
That also speaks to the unpredictability of competitive epee.

| if life was like Seabiscuit she and her trainer would somehow have the same injury, and would come from behind to win!! That part of that movie cracked me up, I mean, in real life the jockey hurt his ribs, why did they make him be injured the SAME way as the horse. Hollywood sucks!

| TheOne,
Happy New Year.
I agree with your verdict.
That's why my watching of Hollywood movies have been down and restricted only to the epics, must-see, debatably "cultural" events like "Master and Commander...", "The Last Samurai" - which by the way I've seen twice now, once by myself and once with my wife - "21 Grams" and of course LoTR.
That said, if you think Hollywood movies suck, try HK movies or the Bollywood one in which song and dance are main features...
Most of the HK movies that make it into the NA "main stream" cinemas are cream of the crop, e.g. the recently deceased Anita Mui's "Rouge" and the Jacky Chan and Jet Li franchises... these are exceptions to the rule.

| at least she did the right thing by taking herself off the team so she's not taking up a healthy person's spot.
who knows, south korea may still have a women's epee olympic champion. |

PK | In what way does "Master and Commander" or "The Last Samurai" qualify as "cultural events" or "must-see" "epics". Come on, those movies are just as main stream Hollywood as any movie. They even come complete with their own hollywood poster boys.

PK | Oh come on! You mean you don't like seeing an epic battle scene pause right at the climax for a musical number, complete with rain-drenched saris ?

| Could potentially be an interesting point! I personally like Bollywood, and the dancing style is exhausting. The Classical Bhyratnatam (that is spelt wrong!) style is a brillant cross trainer for fencing if you can find a teacher! (Hows that for coming back onto topic??? )
