Keep in mind that:

The current Rolling Ranking will ultimately be modified (as new competitions occur) to include only competitions between 4/1/03 and 3/31/04.

Points are awarded in several competitions, but Rankings are calculated by summating the top 6 results plus points from the World Championships held earlier this year in Havana.

The next three months are going to be exciting!

I completely agree that the next three months will be VERY exciting but this is the story I heard about who goes to the O's.
Because I know most about WS I will use that as an example.
The US Rolling Senior Team Points have nothing to do with who goes to the O's.
Since Sada is in the top 8 she will go. (You go Sada girl you drop dead amazing fencer!!)
Because she is in the top 8 she will bring another fencer with her.
FIE points started with the World Championships. Mariel got points but Emily didn't (but it is not too late.)
If the Olympics happened tomorrow Sada and Mariel would go. (Mariel is 11th and Emily is 12 in Senior FIE WS.)
If Mariel or Emily can get themselves in the top 8 of the FIE standings a third person would go. So if Mariel gets in the top 8 and Emily is 9th then both Mariel and Emily would go.
THere is a limit of three and it is based on the FIE standings.
It would be so totally kewl if all three of them made it!
Send positive thoughts.....

2) Qualification individuelle pour les armes n’ayant pas une compétition par équipe
Il reste 24 places pour chaque arme qui seront réparties de la manière suivante :
• les 8 premiers du Classement Officiel de la FIE individuel (2 maximum par pays);
• les 8 premiers du C.O.A. individuel et par zone, à raison d’un seul tireur par pays, (3 pour l’Europe, 2 pour l’Asie-Océanie, 2 pour l’Amérique, 1 pour l’Afrique) ;
ok, point taken with respect to WS. But with respect to WF, youi are still wrong. Assuming (and it is a fairly safe one) that no American women's foilist will be in the top 8 in the world from the ranklist, then the 2nd criteria will apply: • les 8 premiers du C.O.A. individuel et par zone, à raison d’un seul tireur par pays, (3 pour l’Europe, 2 pour l’Asie-Océanie, 2 pour l’Amérique, 1 pour l’Afrique)

That means one fencer per country: Emily, Erin or Iris + someone from another country in the American zone. No American could then go to the regional, because "des épreuves de qualifications des zones qui sont ouvertes, à raison d’un seul tireur par pays et par arme, aux pays qui n’ont pas de tireur(euse) qualifié(e) dans l’arme concernée par les deux critères précédents"

Found this over on Rec.Sport.Fencing

A bit heavy on the hyperboly, but that's what's needed to draw the interest of the general public, I suppose.
