| The most redhead fencers I've seen are sabre fencers. My theory is that the red hair prevents you from seeing if that head cut really did some damage to them or not, so you don't get a pyschological edge or anything. Kinda like why the British troops during the 18th and early 19th century wore red coats...
Perhaps this should be on the water cooler instead... oh well.

1) the freckles you get are helpful in covering blemishes (ie, black heads)
2) You become more tolerant with ppl taunting you
3) Everyone I know wants my color
4) You stand out-which is helpful in finding a date, guys seem to be pretty attracted to it. | Seem like pretty good reasons to like being a redhead... |

| I have brown hair, so I probably don't belong here, but I have noticed a lot of red haired fencers. Oh, and my mom has red hair. |

| Is there a higher proportion of red haired fencers than in other sports
or is it that fencing turns people's hair red |

| My wife is the only red-head fencer I know and she's a transplant to our area. However I've noticed a lot of blue eyed successful fencers around here.

| I had a thing for redheads when I was young! They were never anything but trouble and I kept going back for more!

| Don't forget the Waltons, either.
I'm not one but I'm a redhead as well (also called strawberry blonde, something like that. My husband insists he married a redhead and I'm assuming he means me). |

But it's impossible for you to be better than anyone classified as "good", that's all. There's simply a contradiction in the terms.
| there's 'good' and 'gooder'. but the english language has 'better' instead of 'gooder'. PHP Code: Congratulations on discovering the Quote block and discarding the PHP block.
thanks

| Wow. This is the kind of down-to-earth topic that keeps me coming back to Fencing.net.
I met an extremely good friend in my fencing class--we bonded over her red hair and a common affection for Anne Shirley (Anne of Green Gables to you non-initiates). She fenced sabre--so did her red-headed friend, Jessica. Katie (my friend) wasn't really into fencing and eventually quit, but she and I are still friends. Jessica got to be very, very good, then burnt out.
For what it's worth, I myself have gold-brown hair with some gray, and my coach is something of a skinhead except for that little fringe around the edge.
And there aren't any other redheads in my club that I remember . . .
