USFA-sponsored vs. non-affiliated events I'd like to see if I could organize a fencing event to attract USFA-registered athletes as well as the so-called "leisure" athletes and salle students who really aren't interested in joining the organization or competing often.
I don't want to mix those fencers. We're talking about two events with separate registration criteria, both running on the same weekend in the same place.
I'm sure it's been done before and I just haven't experienced it.
Can it be done? -

Array Sure you can. You just won't be covered under USFA insurance (not that it's really worth anything) or be able to award ratings. -
You missed it, Mergs -- TWO events, no mixing. I want the USFA-sanctioned ratings for that group of fencers, and nothing but serious play for the other fencers. As long as the $$$ and paperwork is handled separately, couldn't they both co-exist in the same place and time? -

Array Sorry, seem to be doing that alot lately. Need to work on point control.
If it is two SEPARATE events, then yes you can. The only problem you have then is making sure that everyone that fences in the USFA side of the tourney is a member. Similar Threads -
