| Site Redesign Hey there. The site has undergone a big change. I'm still updating the format on some of the other sections of the site, but I wanted to go ahead and launch this new design now so that everyone can get used to it.
The forum may look a little different, but it is the same in function - just some of the links have changed.
You now need to look to the left for the forum links to your Control Panel, Private Messages, etc. The seach form at the top left is for the main fencing.net site, use the "Search Posts" link to search within the forum posts.
Why the change? Well, it was time to change the look and feel of the site, and I've changed to a database driven content tool so that I can post more news items easier. This will also allow me to designate editors to submit their own news.
The #1 request when I did the site satisfaction survey a few months ago was to get more and better news on the site. I've got some stories in the pipeline that will help and I needed a better way to manage it all.
I hope you like it. There will be ongoing tweaks and improvements over the next week or so. Let me know if you encounter any bugs.
Thanks!

| I must say that I like the new look a lot. It seems a lot cleaner to me. Also, I'm glad you added the RSS feature (or at least if it was there before I never noticed it). It's not working now (when I clicked the link I got an error), but I look forward to when it is working.

| Looks good, but I keep getting a window "A runtime error has occurred...." etc. Never happened before with this forum (although it does with other internet stuff). |

| Hi!
I think that the change is for worse, at least what I can see now. With all the links to the left, not on top, the width of the text field is smaller, which makes reading of especially long posts less easy to the eye. IMO.
Have a nice time!

| It's a nice look. But I'm sad that ShyHeidi's handiwork had to go...

| I must say that I liked the previous site design better as far as appearance goes. It might just be that this isn't what I'm used to seeing, but all the images at the top seem off-center and out of place...

| Ooo... Classy, very classy.
I have to agree with thingymebob though... If live chat were back it would be great!

| I like the look and feel of the new layout but find the smaller font a bit uncomfortable.
Excellent site. Thanks!

| Also, a note for those that want the chat back:
It's still out there, as it's just that it has always been an IRC chat. The site just happened to have a nice little built-in interface for it.
I don't have the server details and the like with me at the moment, so if someone else has them and wants to post them for the ease and convenience of all, that'd be keen. Alternatively, I can just post up said details when I do have them.
Edit-o-rama: klagenfurt.at.eu.worldirc.org, port 6667, channel is #fencing.

| I like the new look too. Gives it that "blog" look. Very contemporary. Only thing I'd suggest is to make the left side menu fixed so it stays visible when the large main page scrolls.
And..if you don't mind my saying: I'm not crazy about the existing Logoart - the fencer icons. One looks more like a tennis player serving, the other like a cross between peg-leg pirate and a satyre.
If you add a button or other "interface" to invoke the chat client, I guarantee more people will chat if there is a way to indicate that people are there - chatting already. Maybe the button color changes or the number of people logged into chat is displayed. (no trivial task I'll bet)

| I like the new design. It looks pretty cool, especially how the news are displayed.
I'd probably like to have the headlines of the news more visible, maybe a little bigger, so that they stand out more when you get on the home page, and I agree on Artisan's comment on fixing the menu in one place so that you can get access to it no matter what scrolling conditions you're in.

| This new design is excellent!Great job.
I like the colour. As for the menu,I agree too that it should be fixed in one place and scroll by itself rather than with the whole thing(hope you understand what I'm trying to say!).I'm no computer whizz but I think they call that a frame? |

| hmmm... agree with you, vigia. It too small and althoughthe fonts and background color fits, it's kinda hard to see.And maybe you can do a little flash that'll make this site a little more interesting, instead of using html, javascripts and all..
cheers,
dora
