Big Apple Open

Went to a very nice tournament this past weekend, the Big Apple Open, held at the NYAC. It's the second time I've been to this event, organized by the Metropolitan Division in NYC, and the second time I've been pleased with the experience. One of the organizers told me they plan to have another in April. If you want to look out for it, the website for the division is at http://www.metrodivision.com/ . It's worth going to if you're in the Mid-Atlantic or Northeast areas.

Blade was there to sell equipment and there was a refreshment stand. The bout committee did a nice job. The event was not self-refereed, for which I am always grateful, and the referees took their jobs seriously.

I managed to lose almost all my bouts and left my shoes & knickers behind, which is par for the course for me this time of the year. However, it was still a good event!

Cool! Thanks for the results, I already had a tournament that weekend, and if the drive was less than 6-7 hours, I might have gone. . .

Yes, the quality of fencing was quite good. Any tournament at the NYAC is going to be good, but generally the Big Apple Opens big some awesome fencing.

P.S. - not only was it a good tournament, but the organizer FedExed me my mislaid stuff overnight. Holy moley. Talk about above & beyond the call.
