Vet WS to be in 2005 Tampa World Veterans

Just heard from the chairman of the USFA Veterans Committee that women's sabre will finally be in the Veteran (50-and-over) World Championships in 2005, in Tampa, Florida.

The vote to include it was held at the last Veteran Worlds in Limoges, France, and all but two countries voted in favor. (The rationale for those not voting for it apparently was that there aren't many women over 50 in most countries who fence sabre and they wanted more depth before including it.) Although the language was that it would be in the "next" World Championships, that apparently did not apply to the 2004 Krems, Austria event, for which the program is already set.

Good, it's about time. I know it's a bit early and there's a few steps between now and then, but good luck in Tampa.

Thanks, oiuyt. Think of how much better I'll be with all that lead time to train.

Gotta look on the bright side.

I think Germany (represented by Max Geuter, FIE Vice President, who has been a major opponent) was the only holdout.
