| Pistes? We need something new! Hello people
Are you getting tired as well that your only options are going back and forward because we have to stay on a silly piste?
I mean, who invented that stupid thing anyways? It was probably a french bloke, Monsieur Piste.
But anyways... i think we should get the FIE to get rid of pistes and start using boxing or K1 rings to fence in. That way instead of only moving back and forward, we have a whole bunch of other options!
We could move aside as well, run around your opponent and make him dizzy, poke him in the back and everything. Obviously this means new rules as well, like being able to fall to the ground to evade a flash, or roll on the ground and use the ropes.
Whats your opinion? |

| Yeah i agree, fencing needs a new look, and i think is a step in the right direction, seeing that we now have wireless capabilities. To many people see fencing as a sport that only rich peole do, having the ring may help expose fencing as a real combat sport such as wrestling and boxing. Which may give the sport more prime time television spots. |

| wow Epeeinur, i never thought of that idea before but it's awesome!!
Cause fencing now a days is getting boring on a piste man.. we need new rules so we can make fencing more popular and more interesting for television..
I have a few idea's..
maybe we can fence without a mask and get a mouthpiece, fencing get more dangerous and that's what the people want to see on television, how cool would that be!!
also the rule so that you and your opponent can talk, like; HEY , WANT A PIECE OF ME, DO YA... this way you aren't that nervous before the match....
Anyway.. How can we make the FIE clear to think about it? |

| The microphone spins down towards ringside, hanging above the crowd like a chromium spider. The referee, carefully chosen by the combatant's handlers for his avatar-like adolescent demeanor, reaches up with one hand, fingers knotted and misshapened from countless hours of typing drivel before his cathode deity.
Voice cracking on every third syllable, he announces: "Now trolling from the red corner..."

| Costs of rings and wireless material wont be an issue....
It will all be paid for by sponsors because fencing will turn into something huge, the media will want to cover it as you see it now with the K1 tournaments |

| K1s. Never heard of them. Shows you how much media penetration has helped that sport.
And WWF wrestling? It's not a sport. It's considered entertainment, by WWE (not WWF, because of conflicts with world wildlife federation, so it's world wrestling entertainment).

| If u want to fence in circles then go join the SCA. Why start from scracth when something like what u want already exists. |

| If you havent heard of K1 then there must be something wrong with you man... honestly
K1 is the biggest kickboxing league there is, the final K1 tournament is always held in Tokyo, Japan. And prize money is millions of dollars. Thats how big it has become.
Havent heard of SCA though... what is that? |

| The society for creative anachronism. An URL for info about them is www.sca.org. They have fencers, sort of. Their matches are all dry, and in my experience they tend to be very far from being competitive athletes. They also make a habit of dressing up in silly costumes with capes and such to fence in and go by made up sca names like Ulthric or Geofrey or something.
But they do make pretty good mead, and I must admit some of their girls look good in the little chainmail bikini's or wench outfits.
If you want to fence sword and dagger or such, they're usually the only place to go to also. And if you want a genuine forged rapier hand made by someone, the SCA could hook you up.
Finally if you wanted to have an unusual match for example one where you had a couple hundred fencers run at each other and swordfight to the last person possibly with catapults tossing small stuffed cows that moo when they hit you and archers on both sides firing soft arrows at the combatants and each other as well while you were fighting.. The SCA does that sort of thing. |

| The reason why fencing is on a piste is because duels that had a circular field ended up being an advance-retreat game. Therefore, there's no reason to use a circle because fencers are just going to engage in a linear path anyways.
Definately not going to see it change. |

| I've seen a video of 'Le Cane', which is a French martial art much like sabre in the 'round'.
Two heavily padded guys wail on each other w/ cane sticks on what appears to be a wrestling mat.
Fencing masks that protect the back of the head are used, target is head to toe. The action is fast and has few breaks, as the ref dances around the action like a boxing ref and calls out hits (?) as the bout progresses.
If you could see it in action, it would give you a good idea of what sabre could look like in the round.
(They often turn their back, spin, etc. ) |

| I think Epeeinuer and California Girl should go at each other in a ring with rapiers. Whoever loses is the one who is on the most crack. Don't even need an autotopsy to tell ya, cuz obviously they are both stoned.
