    if you enjoy sabre then just fence sabre and dont worry about foil. dont try to learn all weapons at once cause if u do you wont be good at any of them. choose the weapon that appeals to you the most ( sounds like sabre) and work hard at it

    Sometimes it takes a looong time to get the tip-sense for foil. Then it might take even longer for foil's RoW to feel natural. It's fairly common for a fencer to have strengths in one direction, and weaknesses in another.

    The way to fix this is to work, work, work! Or, specialize. Most fencers end up specializing.

    Methinks some of the most difficult to learn things in fencing are: (in no particularr order)
    RoW - one always tries to parry in order not to be hit;
    making the riposte after parrying;
    using the fingers to make the actions, and in sabre to make the cuts with the fingers ONLY;
    fencing relaxed.

    Add to this list if you so wish.

    Don't fence foil It sounds like you don't really like it, I don't either. Sabre is a lot of fun, and so is epee.

    It doesn't even matter if you like it or not, fence foil!!!!

    If you like Sabre the most, go for it!!!!

    IMHO, If you fence foil first for a while, then you can switch to epee or saber.

    Foil helps for point control with epee. You can un-learn right of way easier than trying to learn right of way.

    Foil helps for right of way with saber. You can learn to slash with the blade quicker than trying to limit yourself to just the point.

    Why bother to "unlearn" anything? Just fence the weapon you want to fence. Life is too short for preliminaries.

    I agree with Inq (for once). Find which weapon you like and stick with it.

    I fenced both foil and epee in high school, but I dropped foil in college. Throughout my college career, my foil roots were the bane of my existence. I fenced epee like a foilist! It wasn't good.
    Don't let 'em drop it. Don'tlet'emdropit. Stop it... bebop it.

    The thing to remember is, there are only two weapons.

    Epee is for people who are too lazy to learn the rules.

    i hope you understand all of these opinions are just that opinions if i was in your position i would start with foil then give each one a try and decide which one best suits your style

    I agree with Inq as well. If you don't like foil learn as much as you need to move on then do it. Personally I hate it, its for people who only want to worry about defending 1/3 of thier body

    Who worries about it? I guess if you're insecure about your fencing, you might worry.

    I'm usually too busy to worry about anything.
