Pozdnyakov equipment ID Does anyone know the equipment Stanislav Pozdnyakov wears?
Reason i ask is because i was just at his website and in the opening pitcure he is wearing a lame and holding a mask that both seem to be of superior quality.
And i need a new lame and am thinking PBT or Prieur with prob a Prieur mask aswell. Uhlman and Allstar have gone down tremendously quality-wise -
The mask looks like a France Lames, which means that a) you can't get it any more, and b) it probably wasn't all that great to begin with. Can't tell on the lame-- may be an FL, too, though Prieur and PBT use similar fabrics.
I've not seen any quality declines with Allstar or Uhlmann FIE masks. The Prieur is a very solid choice however. That said, if I were buying an FIE sabre mask I'd got straight for the Leon Paul X-change, for the simple reason that it eliminates the need to buy a new mask or go to the trouble of having a new bib made and sewn in whenever the lame parts go bad.

yeah, but i hate that thing.
and if you havent noticed a decline in uhlman and allstar quality youve gotta look again. -

Array Ummm, Neevel is pretty noligable when it comes to equiptment. Perhaps you should look again. -
I have looked again-- I see pretty much everything that comes through the check-in at NACs when I work them . They do have their ups and downs with regards to things like the wire they use for body cords, and there was a batch of foil wires that came through where they tried just crimping the contact instead of soldering (with predictable results), but I've not seen any issues with the masks.
If for whatever reason you can't stand the looks of the LP mask, then go with the Prieur. You can get Bill Hall to redo the bib when it goes bad, but the mesh will last well-nigh forever.

Array He has re-done one of my masks, and it has never fallen apart since. Nice guy too. -
their quality has gone so down hill, even in the last 2 or so years. They have made their equipment much cheaper, quality-wise. At least mask and lame wise, in my opinion.
Anyway, ill prob go for a prieur mask and PBT lame, which raises a question, how are the prieur lames. Thanks for the feedback guys. -

Array Unlmann and allstar did have a problem with bodycords for awhile
there but mask wise still as good as ever. But for a mask Preiur is
with a doubt one of the storgest one built. I have a couple of them that I know is older then Nevvel and still pass the 12 Kilo punch had to redo the bibs on them to make them legal. These were made when the req.was only 7 kilos. Also as someone who has done alot of work on lames I see very few Unlmann and Allstar lame for repairs and when I did alot was due to the fencer and not the lame itself such as putting your mask againist the lame not washing it and putting it away wet in the bag.
A Preiur lame don't last as nearly as long as a Unlmann lame does.

Array If you don't think Leon Paul's X-change mask is a good idea, then you have a closed mind.
See the improvement I made to it: http://www.fencing101.com/Photo_Gall...er&id=109_0915 http://www.fencing101.com/Photo_Gall...er&id=109_0916
If you've ever been hit in the back of your head do try my improvement.
Also look at me review http://www.fencing101.com/reviews/ce...ails&itemid=76
I've made the mask a lot more comfortable too...
If you've ever gone to a tourney and see the bib on your mask fails the test...
The only drawback I can see about the X-Change msk is the difficulty in attaching the transmitter IF you fence wireless...

the mask itself is a great mask, no doubt about that, i just dont like the way it looks, little too bare Similar Threads -
