3.BMX riding
4.Freestyle motocross
5.Luge

7.Surfing(SHARKS!)
8.Horse racing(would'nt be nice to get stomped on!)
9.Mountain biking
10.Fencing |

| Your list is greatly flawed. For starters, you have fencing but not football? I'm not even going to get into all the other problems! |

| Fencing is one of the least dangerous sports. It's far less dangerous than golf or baseball, for instance.

| Also, I was watching some wintergames special on TV the other day, and it featured luge. The announcers said something about it being a spectacularly safe sport, despite how it may seem.
Im not really sure about that, but I suppose my apprehension is akin to that of people who are inclined not to believe you when you say fencing is actually safe.

| I'd say soccer... and not just for the players either!!! I think I read somewhere you're more likely to die from a riot at a soccer game in south america than to die by lightning strike...

What do you think are the top ten(or as many you can think of) most dangerous sports?
My list goes:
(list deleted) | What metric shall be used?
1. Total number of deaths?
2. Total number of hospital-care demanding injuries?
3. Total number of injuries, weighted by their severity?
4,5,6. Incidences of 1,2,3?
7. Some other metric?
Please specify.
Have a nice time!

| Does drinking count as a sport? And what do you define as "dangers"? There are LOTS of inherent... er... dificulties and after effects due to alcohol. Or do we call it "beer goggles"?
You know, my university used to post this statistic about drinking being really dangerous and how there were several student alcohol related deaths a year. They made it out like these kids had pretty much died of alcohol poisoning.
Well, truth comes out: BOTH students that year had been drinking, got sick, passed out, cracked their heads on the toilet bowl, and managed to drown. I feel terrible for the parents, but it brings to mind the "a man arives at the gates of heaven and St Peter asks, "so, how'd you die?" jokes...
Oy! Going to bed now |

You have got to do it as a percentage of participants if you want the results to mean anything. IIRC golf it's self isn't dangerous but there tend to be lots of heart atacks etc on golf courses. |
