    Annual "Night before Xmas" Story

OK, since the 12 days of Fencing Christmas went so fast (and BTW, was it SO difficult to follow the directions?) here's the start to the Night Before Christmas rhyme:

"Twas the night before Christmas, and all thru the salle
Our eyes were drawn to the new fencing gal.
Her lame was like tinsel, her sabre was bright
and we wondered who she'd come to fence with this night.

    copy, paste, continue!
"Sometimes we, as coaches, get into that dictator mode where you just tell and you don't listen and you don't try to understand them." Tom Izzo, Mich. St.
"Fraud is the creation of trust. And then: its betrayal."
    William Black, Ph.D.

As she took to the strip, like a ravenous beast.
He took one long look at her with his good eye,
As the boys gathered, wishing her mettle to try.

She impressed herself and Santa Claus too,
so she'll get her great wish a pair of fencing shoe.

The Sabereurs, faster than coursers they came.
The Maestro now pacing, calling each one by name,
"Now Crompton. On Parker. You call that a thrust?
On Spencer and Lee, take her head if you must!
To the Top of the Piste, Fencer's Ready? En Garde!
Now fence away, fence away, fence away hard!"

Our fencer, she took up her blade with a sigh
And prayed that her bladework would not go awry.
Her visor was unsteam'd, her grip was like steel
She prepared to do battle, come wound or come weal.

With a "Ha!" and a "Ho!" she feinted to four
then avoided Lee's thrust with one hand on the floor.
Her riposte came so quick, like a spoon thru hot jelly
and her point took stunned Lee in the midst of his belly.

then avoided Lee's thrust with one hand on the floor.
Her riposte came so quick, like a spoon thru hot jelly
and her point took stunned Lee in the midst of his belly.

Then a feint to the forearm, Advance, Lunge, Remise
His blade met with nothing but whistling breeze,
As again and again she would shift, then strike true
And though try as they might there was naught they could do

One by one they were vanquished and hung their heads low
When she took off her mask, and was turning to go.
With a twinkling eye she said "Check your bag, Lee"
And he did, then he started to chuckle with glee.

For there in his bag where his old Saber was laid,
Was a brand new electric with maraging blade.
And so it was, with everyone else in the Salle,
That they found something special from that mystery gal.

And she pulled on her red coat and made for the door,
The guys noticed something they hadn't before.
How her ears were quite pointed when she pulled back her hair,
Then she hopped in her Vette and took off out of there.

But they heard her exclaim as she smiled to herself
"You can fence who you like, but don't mess with the Elf!"

    Nicely done, Foily!

There'll be a little something extra in your stocking come Christmas.
A friend will bail you out of jail,
a true friend will help you hide the body...
