[CFML] figure eight foil You can get some information here: http://nedo.hypermart.net/
Click on the: Classical Fencing Catalog link on the left and you will find a
scan from a fencing catalog from 1919.
Hope that helps.

Subject: figure eight foil
Hello all. I was wondering if any of you out there could help me
out. i am trying to find out appromixatly when some of my figure
eight foils were made. This one in perticualar is rather trickey for
me to place. It is, as i have said, an antique figure eight foil
that has a brass guard and pommel. The handle is wood wrapped in
twine. Form what i am now able to see on the blade, which was
recentally covered in rust and other such tarnishes, it is marked
with the letters "BP" in a rectangle with a circle at two the
corners on one of the smaller sides. It was made in france and the
weight is 4. There is also a marking that i am not quite sure what
it is. It looks like a vertical line with 4 diganioal lines
connected to it. My sister says that it reminds her of half of a
dead christmas/pine tree. The blade has been hammered into/onto the
pommel. I dont know if it matters or not but my instructor is
guessing that the blade was broken at one point then sharpened.
Quite pointy. My father purchased this foil for me as an early
christmas present form eBay.com and the seller did not have any
information to give. Any help dateing this figure eight would be
greatly welcomed. Depending on what this will turn up, i may requst
help on my other 2 figure eights. Thank you all again for any help
you may provide.
by the way, i know there are probaly a large amount of mis-spelled
words in this, i'm still in school and i know that spelling really is
my worst subject.
