My first foil is called the "ghetto foil". It's had it's blade replaced three times, and as an Italian gripped weapon that was welded and not riveted, I've had to reattatch the little loops twice on both sides, and it has a hole melted through it from last time I did it. At the moment, one of the loops is held on by athletic tape...

Named weapons? Please...many parts have been re-combined, blades replaced, things switched around. I stick to "Works"
and "Needs Fixin" and sometimes one will earn the title "Gonna break soon"

My foils are named 'foil' or, in they case they break, 'that god damned piece of ****.'

My epees shall be named 'epee' and if one of them shall break I will call it 'stupid piece of ****.'

Of course, any sabre I own will be called 'Slashy.'

I have a dry foil that I call Frakenstien.

Anyway, to change the subject a little, does anyone know of any named swords from literature other than the Excaliber?

    Rolls.

    Plenty....

    e.g

    Anduril
    Glamdring
    Orcrist etc

Do I name my Epee's? No - that would feel like naming a hammer! It's a tool not a person.

I've got one practice french foil that I call "the claymore" because, well, its about as unwieldy as the Scottish greatsword of the same name.
As far as named swords in history - I believe (and someone correct me if I'm wrong) the Japanese duelist Musashi fought with a Katana in each hand. The names of his weapons were Masamune and Murasama.

Not sure if this counts, but the un-matched sword in Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon was called the Green Destiny.

What a coincidence, I just bought 3 new foils and I was looking for some names.

I'm still have no idea what they're gonna be but I usually come up with some pretty crazy names.

    I have right now:
"Good Foil" (Vniti with a nice bend in the tang)
"Nice Foil" (Vniti without such a good bend in the Tang)
and "flick with my bell over my opponents head foil" (BG blade that is as flexible as wet spaghetti)

My foils have a general name, "Sephiroth." Due to their random state of psychotic behavior.

My foils are generally referred to as "red" and "blue", as I have different coloured pads in them.

My club has a weapon known as "fuzzy," due to fuzzy material that used to be on the grip, but has since all but worn away.

I used to call whichever of my current foils that was whippier "Mr. Flicky," until I recently got an extremely stiff blade. After referring to it once as "Mr. Stiffy," I no longer use blade flexibility to identify my weapons.

Haven't named my foil, don't intend to.

But we call our coach King Arthur and his foil Excalibur.
    Just because.

Hrunting "whose patterned blade was tempered in blood" but unfortunately did not "bite" when Beowulf went up against the water-hag. And Naegling, which also failed our hero against the Worm. If you're a romantic/warrior type who would name your blade, Beowulf is a must read!

But it never occurred to me to name my foil. Cool idea. Pokemon?

I bought a BG brushed aluminum guard (white color) and custom painted the inside black. I call it "ebony and ivory", any of you who have played Devil May Cry know what I'm talking about

Three "Commie's" (russian grip foils, the one wired for competition lovingly referred to as "Stalin"...) and three "Frenchy Garcon's" the outcasts (and yet the most used outside of comps...)

'The good epee' and the 'stupid-POS-oneofthesedaysi'mgonnafindawaytotorchthisdamnthing '

    and "Whoosh", the sabre.

There's also the toolbox/repair kit, known simply as 'let's see what I need but don't have to fix it...'
