    Trillini's kit

A long time ago, I promised to find a photo of the uniform used by Giovanna Trillini at Nīmes 2001.

    Here it is:

Well, so much for even majority white uniforms. A step in the right direction I do believe.

Although I like the traditional white, that doesn't look too bad either. I am afraid that for one to wear gear like that, one must really be good. Otherwise you will draw bad attention to yourself. Walking around trying to look flashy and then get killed on the strip would be quite laughable.

I just bought myself the adidas stripe uniform. I figure I'm old enough that walking around trying to look flashy will make ALL my opponents underestimate me. I'll take whatever advantage I can get . . .

    OK Delia,

You're going to have to let me know next time you are up BCAF way so I can be there to see your new flash kit.

I don't know if I'll ever be good enough to wear that: I'm sometimes sheepish about even owning an FIE mask and jacket.

I like! I've seen the jackets withe colored sections before (I think Blade sells them), and I recently saw a couple of San Bernardino fencers with colored knickers...one blue & one green they got from Triplette.

Personally, I like the idea of a bit more color in the unis...and no...I won't be getting a purple pair, Eric! The cosks are quite enough at the moment!

Paolo--the secret is, don't think "good enough." Think "shameless enough." I will admit I once owned one of Triplette's unitards, too.

So, where do I go to see one of these paragons of fashion?

I am thinking that when I at least get ranked, like a "e", I will make a patch with the musketeer's cross on it to wear on my left arm. That will be the extent of my fashion statement.

Use the Shift key, people! Keyboard manufacturers everywhere are ineffably saddened when you ignore what they made just for you!

The Adidas uniform is the same thing as the top-of-the-line Allstar uniform but with Adidas stripes and patches. If you really want to look flashy, walk around with a mink coat to "keep warm" between bouts.

Not bad, actually - is it custom, or who makes it? It almost looks like a Champion logo on the leg (can't really tell from the picture).

    Thanks Paolo
Must say I think the idea is fine BUT they need to do more work on the design!
It is too linear and 'blocky'. I think thjey need to get some designers to do some work...
Fred, Champion sponsors the Italian team.
Thats why she had the logo...

I agree. We need fencing uniforms that look something like the stuff the downhill ski racers wear. Flames and spiderwebs and all that fine stuff.

Foil fencers could wear uniforms that look like ice skaters' outfits (the "artistic" ones, not the speed skaters). You know, ruffles and sequins...

In a somewhat less serious vein, I have to say that I find the colored uniforms are ok, but I object to requirements that one wear them--more and more competitions over here are requiring the top eight, or sixteen, or thirty-two to have their national colors on their knickers. That I find excessive.

    Cheers, MR

Why sabre? Because you don't take heads with the point.

Ruffles and lace I'd go for. It would give us a more old world look, but sequins? Hopefully not for the men, that would be just a touch too feminine.

For Epee, since their is no lame' to cover the body, I'd like to see more button style jackets. I own a Santelli foil button jacket, and it is a pain to get in and out of, but they sure do look stylish.
