| That's a good question. How old do you have to be to buy cooking wine and such?

Thats it. I'm moving back to Wales!!! | Yes, move back to Wales so you can purchase the plonk that passes for wine!
Actually, maybe you can borrow a bottle of beer from a friend or something? The recipe doesn't really call for THAT much alcohol! |

*does the happy dance at the prospect of food that requires some cooking* | Kewl! Let me know how it turns out! (The food, not the wine)
and if you're REALLY adventuresome, you may want to try the recipe with some deep fried crickets! They're bugs, right? |

| The recipee turned out wonderfully. Real food... feels like its been ages. Of course, I cook like I'm feeding an army, so I've got leftovers for the next several days. Takes care of the lunch worries. Thanks, by the way, for the recipee.
And the trouble with crickets is that they're a little hard to get ahold of at this time of the year. And the petstore crickets should have been dosed up with loads of a growth inhibitor to keep them the right size for feeding the pets that generally eat them. And anyway, they may be my major, but it doesn't mean I've got to want to EAT the darn things! |

I'll see about sending you some more recipes that I've come up with in my 9 years of university student living...... |

| I'm told crickets are nice and tart, good fried in butter (if you can keep them from hopping out of the frying pan and into the fire). |

| Blue Falcon, I'd LOVE any other recipees you've got. I've only gotten in 5 years of university, and another 4 easily to go. So why not? And yes,I really did like it, and I'm not just being nice. I was so hungry when I got home at 6, and then I had to make dinner, and by the time it was done, I'd picked at all of the makings so much I didn't have a lot of space.
And Soldier, I don't actually know what they taste like. I've never really wanted to know. But... *decides she might as well say it* crickets, if cooked or chocolate coated, always have wings and legs removed, possibly the heads. You don't WANT the crunchy parts... and they're usually dead too.
*hides before you whack her for being impudent* |

*hides before you whack her for being impudent* | That's not impudence! That's, uhhh.... informative! Yeah, yeah!
Cool, I'll dig out some of the stuff I used to cook when I was a student. Very simple to make and yet tasty. Nutritionally they may not be the best but, ugh. Oh, well.
I can give you the secret to very good fried rice...... if you're into rice. Oh, and the secret to good stir-fry. Make stir-fry the way Chinese restaurants make it! |

*hides before you whack her for being impudent* | Oh, and I have a recipe for GREAT crabmeat bisque. Unfortunately, I think it requires more liquor |

| Blue- the 21st will be here in fairly short order, so that issue shouldn't be an issue much longer. Sad that the only reason I'm wanting my 21st is so I can buy all my ingredients again.
And I know that nutrition isn't tops in some things, but it can't be as bad as what I ate when I lived in graduate housing (no kitchen, no cooking in the rooms, no cafeteria, etc). It all sounds good! |

*hides before you whack her for being impudent* | Ah, depends on who's eating them, and under what circumstances! When you're my father, camping, with a frying pan, some butter, and a campfire... |

| *groan, burries head in hands* thats true. Though, if you're determined to eat something, you might as well add fried mealworms, I hear those are pretty good too.
And we'll eat a lot of things, if the need is there. I just don't find that need yet. |

I kinda draw the line on bugs and other things that crawl. |
