Hotels at San Jose NAC?

Does anyone know anything about the Hotel DeAnza in San Jose? I booked a room at the Marriott, but I came across the Hotel DeAnza in Fodors. It looks like a neat little hotel. Also there are a couple of good deals to be had at the Hyatt Sainte Claire. Does anyone have any opinions on these or other hotel? Thanks.

Some informal reviews of the Saint Claire can be found here:

http://pub210.ezboard.com/fpriceline...icID=319.topic

The reviews at the link above were written by people who got the hotel via Priceline stays.

Some of the 3* downtown San Jose zone hotels reported by Priceline users are:

Crowne Plaza San Jose Downtown

Hilton San Jose & Towers

Hyatt St. Claire

San Jose Marriott

Winning Priceline bids for the above have been reported as low as the $40-$45 a night range.

The Hotel DeAnza is a hotel in a renovated historic building (and landmark with their big red neon sign on top). While I've been there for meetings and parties, I've never stayed there so I can't comment on the rooms themselves. As for location, while the hotel isn't right next to the convention center, it's an short easy walk away.

Not ever had stayed at any of those hotels, but...

Hotel DeAnza is pretty cool kinda far from the venue. Crowne Plaza...so so. Hilton Tower is pretty good across the street from the venue. Marriott...not sure where that is. Fairmount Hotel, very chic and chi-chi, not sure if it's cheap though. Within walking distance from venue. Hotel St Claire: pretty good as well.

The SJ Marriott is directly next to and connected to the convention center. It's the newest major hotel in downtown SJ and under two or so years old.

Unless there's a new convention center, the hotel directly next to the Tom McEnry convention center (which is not where the competition venue is) is the Hilton Tower and Hotel. Maybe the Marriott is on the other side of the convention center.

Yes, the Marriott is on the other side of the convention center from the Hilton. The convention center is across the street from the Civic Auditorium and Parkside Hall which are the competition locations.

http://www.sjcc.com/getting_here/images/locatormap.pdf

While the map above lists "the future site of the Marriott", the hotel has been open for some time. (Either that or I've been to a hospitality suite located in the future)

The Hotel DeAnza is off the map. but it's about 3 longish blocks up Almaden from the venue.
