From Sabre or Epee to Foil?

For foilists, there are the wonderful parries that come from Sabre for defence against flicks. Is there anything else that comes from Sabre?

What about Epee? Anything from there?

Interesting perspective. But what makes you think it came from sabre? It could have been developed indenpendently, no? I mean it wasn't like no body knew what to do until sabreurs came along for the rescue.

It's more of a similarity of the two weapons.

I was, unfortunately, fencing foil earlier today, and while I often found my epee angles to be quite useful, I found that most foilists have no idea how to deal with a moulenello (sp?), which really just ends up being a really elaborate coupe. Pretend that the proper accents are on the epee and coupe, as I'm too lazy to figure out how to make them.

good grief, cj...

if you learn foil technique and you learn sabre technique...then you seem to automatically know how to do those parries against flicks...cause they are taught in sabre...

I was not talking historic perspective...I am talking from a foilist perspective that has never taken sabre or epee...never even held either one. Just wanted to know if there are other things that are taught in the other weapons that would help a person that has only had foil lessons.
