maskrepair/fencerbill Fencerbill!!!
I just got this mask from a pawnshop. It needs a new bib, but Id like
to keep the original front layer of the bib.
It also needs new plastic stripping. i have the original stuff, but in
my rush to see how this mask was created the bib is all but off,
hanging by the rivots and is in layers. Also, the plastic stripping is
off as i wanted to see.
So I was planning on painting it with a flag or something.
But how much would it cost to put new stripping on and a new bib? and
how long will it take?
It passes a mask punch, but even if it doesnt id still like it
repaired and given as a gift. Wallhanger type thing.
Thanks,
Magni

Re: maskrepair/fencerbill Ordinarily I would reply to the author but there are some safety issues.

I rarely create a new bib and never on an FIE mask. I rehabilitate the original
bib. Usually the outside layer of the bib can be retained, unless it is a
really cheap one with tears.

I am not completely clear on what you mean by plastic stripping. If I get all
the pieces, I should be able to put it back together again.

Have a ball.

Can't quote until I see it. But I have never charged more than $60 or less than
$40 for a complete rebuild. If I got it this week I could probably get it back
in two weeks. But I don't know what else may arrive sooner and Xmas is not too
far off. Undoubtedly by Jan 15th at latest.

If it doesn't pass a punch test, I don't work on it. You might be careful about
it but it might wind up in someone else's hands.
My E-mail is fencerbill@aol.com. Will send address and phone by E-mail.

Step 1: See if mask passes punch test. If no, throw in trash.
