if he gets a better running mate than he had in 2000, it was like Ralph Nader, and "very-obviously-hippy-woman" i think her name was winona something. . . She didn't inspire any confidence in me at all!!

Unfortunately, many think he destroyed a lot of his political capital when he (as some put it) "cost Gore the 2000 election"

I wonder why he hasn't made much news since then... not a peep out of him about Iraq -

    interesting discussion:

Well actually I'll settle for a democrat.. as long as Mr. Bush doesn't become president again.. I mean.. the Bush admiministration feels like a theocracy with so many devoted christians in positions of power. We don't want another Iran on our hands do we?

Come on, give me your best

Can't complain about a theocracy until somebody's making you pray.

Worry not. Unless they can persuade Al Qaeda to perpetrate another attack and crater the economic recovery, or to turn Iraq into an Israel-style murder zone, none of the current Democratic candidates looks capable of wresting the Oval Office from Bush. Though I hope they can recapture at least one house of Congress---unanimity of power makes me uneasy, whichever side has it...

Hey, I've got an idea. How about, before anybody here is allowed to bash a policitian (or anyone, for that matter) for their misspeakings, we all get to go back through all of their old posts, and pick out every misspelling, grammatical mistake, fallacy of logic/argument, typo, and mis-saying they've ever made?

Now if only we could have audio archives of all their old conversations...

That's a big problem nowadays. Everyone gets compared to Clinton, who, it must be said, was a glib and polished speaker. Those who don't match his standard get graded down on the curve, not just for speaking ability but for intelligence, memory, honesty, etc. ( And speaking ability is not a good proxy for those qualities. )

Conveniently, though, it only seems to be Republicans who come in for public excoriation on that basis. Democrats seem to get an automatic "pass".

Yes, but Al Gore was clearly the smarter man because he invented the internet. Ha ha.
Maybe, perhaps, likely, possibly, probably, potentially.

Unfortunately we've now become accustomed to considering the requirement for our politicians to be competent orators and distinguished scholars as an optional "bonus" rather than a baseline standard. Yet when it comes to personal morality we expect the highest standard. We are a fickle public.

Unfortunately in politics its what, why, and how you state your ideas that shapes your leadership and effectiveness, not who you sleep with....

    Green Party

Okay. I have to put my 2 cents in. While fencing in a salle over her where I live a few years back, I got into a discussion with my fencing partner and instructor about the Green Party and Ralph Nadar. I would vote for him. He turned things upsidedown and insideout, and did the right thing with his Nadar's Radars. and We really loved the guy back in the 70's. Does he still have the get up and go plus the brains? Yes. I think he still has it. But, it's a very long shot and needs much support. Not more difficult than Ross Perot, but difficult. Ross was a billionaire and could not get elected. How can we get Nader in?

[speaking of redecorating, sorry to say this, but, our temple in Japan went Emerald. It was originally done in browns with yellow rugs, and we used to say "follow the yellow brick road', but now the guys are saying: 'we're in the emerald city" - this bulletin is only due to the joke about the redecorating robbers, thanks.]
