schlager

Greetings,
I am searching for a type of weapon called a schlager or korbschlager. It is a weapon used for Mensur fencing. If anyone knows where I can purchase one, or own one that I can buy, send me an email at tearlenb@email.co.yu. Also, if you know of any club that offers Mensur training in the US I would appreciate the knowledge.

I really doubt that you could buy a Korbschlaeger in the US. It would by easier for you to order one in Germany or Austria or Switzerland and then recieve the Schlaeger by Mail.

The Problem will be that such an Korbschlaeger is quite expensive (round about 300 $) and normally you would need another Paukschlaeger for your training. Search the Net for the Keyword Couleurartikel Haendler and you will find some Dealer for all kinds of Korb and Glocken Schlaeger!

The most important fact is that Mensuren Fencing and olympic Fencing do have nothing in common. It's simply a totaly different world and i doubt that you will find someone to pratice with you in the US. (OK there are some people with Mensur Practice in the US but normaly they are, let's say "retired" from Practice)

If you ever travel to Germany let me know. Maybe i could arrange some small Schlaeger Practice for you.

But just because i'm curiouse:
Why do you want to practice Schlaeger Fencing?

Thanks for the tips. They have helped quite a lot. Unfortunately, I wish I would have received the post a couple weeks ago, as I just returned from Switzerland. Oh well. I hope to be able to create some interest in it in the US among my salle and nearby ones. If you know of anyone living close to Ohio who is interested in forming a group feel free to tell them to drop me an email. Again, thanks for your help.
