allstar masks... they RINNNNNGGGGG when hit

well the title says it all.

Thers this lefty fencer who always manages to hit me in the ear and
make my mask do this high pitch ring that drives me nuts! completely
    incapacitating!!!

I used some E6000 shoe goo on the mask to dampen it. preliminary tests
    confirm no ringing...

but does anyone else out there have a problem with allstar masks?
    uhlmann masks?

Personally i like the Leon Paul mask as they are like tanks and dont
    even DREAM of vibrating.

Whats the best FIE mask out there in terms of

    1) lightness( i despise heavy masks)

    2) durability/safety. i want the best mesh out there.

    3) cost?

PS: thanks in advance to all who venture an opinion!

    And add:

    4) size, for those of us out here with unusually large heads.

My Uhlmann sabre mask rings deafeningly when hit certain ways. My
previous mask (Negrini) did not have this problem.

I had a Prieur mask with mesh so tight that for the first year it would
ring like crazy when I got hit in the head. 7 years later, it has
loosened up a little and now doesn't ring anymore. The new Prieur I
bought this summer had a little ring, but not nearly as much. The ring
has faded from that mask in about 3-4 months.

As an engineer, I take the ringing of the mask to be a sign of quality.
I know that all the parts are connected together so firmly that
nothing slides and damps the ring.

I had the same problem, and it was dangerous! I'd get poked in the eye
every time I got hit in the mask while trying to answer it.

Or it could be that your hearing has degraded or that you've gotten
    use to the sound.

Just pointing out there are other possibilities and you didn't give all
the pertinent details. Though the loosening up of the mask is a
    high probability cause.
