| How much do you train? Be honest people, I am just trying to get a good average of how much effort people put into improving.
How much time do you spend bouting per week?
How many tournaments do you go to per month?
How much time do you spend drilling with other fencers per week?
How much time do you spend to footwork per week?
How much time do you spend doing bladework per week?
How many days a week do you go to club/classes?
How much time per week do you spend doing conditioning, strength and speed training?
Do you feel that your training adversely effects your game, or not much at all?
Do you think the quality of your game depends more on how long you have been fencing, or how much you train?

| time bouting per week: roughly 3-6 hours
tournaments: 1 per month (I'm still rather new at it...)
Drilling with other fencers: 1-2 hours/week
Footwork: half an hour a week
I do most of my bladework in bouting... but perhaps a half hour or so here and there a week...
Class every monday night, club on Wed. & Thu. nights, occasionally on sat & sun. afternoons.
Strength, conditioning and speed, I work on doing normal day to day things... running every morning, other sports, weights, etc.
I feel that the more I train, the less effective the training becomes... I actually learn a lot better bouting with pauses when I'm having trouble with things...
I think the quality of fencing has more to do with how focused you are at any given moment, and your experience with whatever moves you're currently having thrown at you...

| I go to practice twice weekly (about 1-1/2 hours weekly on Wednesday, 2-3 hours weekly on Friday). It's hard to break it down into footwork and bladework as these vary from practice to practice, but at every practice we do footwork, distance drills, and some bouting.
On Monday nights, I go to the gym and do an overall body workout including aerobic conditioning and weight training to try and improve my overall fitness level.
I haven't settled into a regular tournament schedule yet, but I'm aiming for once every 2 months. (My division holds a tourney once a month.)
Obviously I'm a recreational fencer. It's hard to devote many hours to training and competition at my stage of life; I'm having to spend most of my time earning my living, and I also have family obligations and other concerns in my life. Also, the body is less forgiving of fatigue and injury at 50 than it was at 25.

| How much time do you spend bouting per week?
Around 5 hours fecning, 5 hours martial arts sparring (hey, it does help with fencing too)
How many tournaments do you go to per month?
Not many, work and school tends to get in the way...
How much time do you spend drilling with other fencers per week?
About 2 hours
How much time do you spend to footwork per week?
2 hours
How much time do you spend doing bladework per week?
Between 2 and 3 hours
How many days a week do you go to club/classes?
2
How much time per week do you spend doing conditioning, strength and speed training?
Probubly around 8 hours a week. Again, have both fencing and martial arts in there.
Do you feel that your training adversely effects your game, or not much at all?
Depends. If I bout right after training, yes it adversely effects my performance. But if I rest for about a day then go in it doesn't hurt at all.
Do you think the quality of your game depends more on how long you have been fencing, or how much you train?
Both, how long can equal experience but without the training you won't have the phsyical ability to fully exploit that experience.

| I spend 4 1/2 hours a week bouting
I go to 3-5 tournaments a month
I drill with other fencers about 1 1/2 hours a week
I do about 1/2 hour footwork a day, so like 3 1/2 hours
Bladework other than classes and bouts: none
i go to my club 3-4 days a week
For general conditioning, also about 3 1/2 hours a week, or 1/2 an hour every day.
Training has helped my game a TON.
I think that training is the biggest thing for improving your fencing game.

| How much time do you spend bouting per week?
Actual bouting per week, not how long I'm at fencing practice: 4 to 6 hours
How many tournaments do you go to per month?
On average, two competitions per month during the season
How much time do you spend drilling with other fencers per week?
None
How much time do you spend to footwork per week?
1.5 hours
How much time do you spend doing bladework per week?
????? Do you mean a lesson? If so, I get a 30 to 45 minutes lesson once per week
How many days a week do you go to club/classes?
Four days per week
How much time per week do you spend doing conditioning, strength and speed training?
Conditioning and strength training is conducted outside of my four practice days, and I spend a minimum of four hours per week doing that. Speed is incorporated into my footwork training during one session per week (30 minutes)
Do you feel that your training adversely effects your game, or not much at all?
No.
Do you think the quality of your game depends more on how long you have been fencing, or how much you train?
Both. |

| Currently I spend barely any time on fencing... aargh.
4 hours at the club a week, approx 1.5 hours conditioning, the rest bouting.
Tournaments whenever they pop up.
General physical conditioning maybe 6 hours a week through recreational sports.
When I had the time it was more like 12 hours a week at club, 2 hours of that conditioning, 45 minutes on lessons, the rest bouting and waiting/resting to bout again. |

| I have class once a week (beginners class), but I also attend regular practise with the more experienced fencer once a week. So two times a week I guess.
