| Age-restricted tournaments and Classifications I know what the new rules are concerning cadet and youth tournaments and classifications (no classifications given for a tournament lower than a C1), but what about Junior? I can find the old rule saying that no age-restricted tournaments can give out classifications and the one saying that cadet and youth can't get them at lower than a C, but nothing about junior restricted tournaments. |

| Why don't you look it up on the USFA website? www.usfencing.org, click on Info for members, then on Documents, then in the main frame, click on USFA Operations Manual, then on Classification Reference chart.
It's spelled out pretty clearly on the opening paragraph.

| Yeah, that's what I could find. What I couldn't find was anything specifically relating to Junior events.
"USFA Competitions that are restricted to Cadets or Youths can award classifications if the competition meets the criteria of C1 or higher. Groups D1 and E1 are no longer applicable for Cadet or Youth competitions. This is a new policy effective August 1, 2003."
The old operations manual states that there will be no classifications given at all for age restricted events. I heard there was a rule change regarding that a while back, but the only thing I could find was this, which only relates to cadet and youth, not junior. |

| Is a junior event an youth or cadet event? No. Therefore the restrictions on cadet or youth events do not apply to junior events. Was there something difficult about that? Note that the paragraph also does not mention veteran or senior events either. Or mixed events versus men's only or women's only.
Thus the assumption should be that unless otherwise specifically spelled out, classifications will be awarded according to the chart.

| I apologize for being confused. What was obvious to you was, apparently, not obvious to me. |
