Club Classic Tournament

As a way to honor one of our coaches we have begun planning a tournament. I would be interested in the suggestions of the board.

First Annual
Harald J. Hillemann
Club 'Foil' Classic

concept:

The Metro Tacoma Fencing Club challenges all clubs in the Western Washington Division to a standard foil, 'classical' fencing tournament for bragging rights to the best trained foil fencers in the classical style representing their Club.

Everyone starts with classical technique.

Clubs eligible to participate will be identified and challenged. Clubs choosing not to field a team will be included in final rankings.

Format: Standard Foil, classical fencing. Fencers are individually rated for technique by a panel of coaches.

Each club will present 3 fencers and one alternate (In case one fails the ranking, yikes!).

The final Club rankings will be determined by indicators plus the individual technical ratings.

3 touch bouts. Using a modified Martinez rule set.

Prize:

Team Engraving on Classic Cup, display/possession of the cup for a year and $300.00 cash.

Anyway, I think this format leads to long term possibilities and rivalries.

Marty

I like the cash prize, I wouldn't mind seeing more tourneys doing that.
