Array Wire Guage? What is the gauge of wire used in body wires, and what is the gauge for blade wires? Is there a difference in gauge between foil and epee blades? -

Array First of all there is no specification and most manufaturers use the same blade wire for all weapons.
Saying that blade wire is usually 28 to 30. I have seen, especially with homemade all the way up to 14, but for the most part it is usually 18 or 20, but I have seen as small as 22. Donald Hollis Clinton, Jr. DHCJr@juno.com

To elaborate a bit on the info Donald gave concerning body cords, Uhlmann (& Uhlmann-style) and Prieur 2-prongs generally take 18 gauge wire. Leon Paul plugs are designed around 22 gauge wire, but you can use a thicker gauge (you just won't be able to run it through the ready-made guide channels, at least not easily).

I usually make my homemade foil wires out of 18 or 20 guage wire. You can find wrapping wire at Radio Shack or you pm me and I'll give you a company I found on the web that sells wrapping wire for cheap (I don't have that info off hand). -

Array I hope what you wrote was a typo. You have no hope of getting 18 or even 20 guage wire down a Foil Blade grove. I hope you meant 28 and 30 gauge.
Radio Shack only sells 30 gauge and it is different numbers based on the color, but it will be in the 278 section. Donald Hollis Clinton, Jr. DHCJr@juno.com
